Fighting Hodgkin lymphoma: help Deborah afford treatment in Melbourne
Supporting Deborah through Hodgkin lymphoma: medication, transport to Melbourne Regional Medical Center, and living costs while She cannot work.
🇦🇺 Melbourne, Victoria, Australia641 views
In February I was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. My oncology team at Melbourne Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in June. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 42, I worked as a bakery worker until February, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Melbourne Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $10,300 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $7,750
• Scans and lab work: $540
• Transport to Melbourne Regional Medical Center: $530
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $450
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,030
Thanks for being kind about this.
