Santos
Francisco was diagnosed with colon cancer in April. The oncology team at the Santos Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in July. He will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Francisco is 35, worked as a taxi driver until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Santos Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $3,650 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,150 • Scans and lab work: $460 • Transport to the Santos Oncology Institute: $320 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $120 • Household costs while unable to work: $600 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Updates from Felipe

  1. Update from Santos: we've started the first stage. We're at 49% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 16% now ($583). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the treatment center and confirmed the amounts.

  • wishing you the best. Gave what I could, wish it was more. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Fresno.

    • Sending love, Felipe. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't be hard on yourself for asking

      • I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. After 11 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

        • Sending love, Felipe. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best

          • Shared it with a few friends. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Love from Lagos.
