Fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia: help Kagiso afford treatment in Johannesburg
Kagiso is facing acute lymphoblastic leukemia and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Kagiso was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March. The oncology team at the Johannesburg Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in July. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Kagiso is 48, worked as a farmer until March, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Johannesburg Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• Scans and lab work: $280
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $100
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $920
