Fighting a rare sarcoma: help Joyce afford treatment in Swansea
Joyce is facing a rare sarcoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.
🇬🇧 Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom1,382 views
Joyce was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in September. The oncology team at Swansea University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Joyce is 32, worked as a nurse until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Swansea University Hospital 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $7,600 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,650
• Scans and lab work: $1,150
• Transport to Swansea University Hospital: $530
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $590
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,680
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

thanks for sharing this. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
