Help keep a free food pantry open for elderly neighbors in Aurora.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Saturday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 26 families, and now we feed 359 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 36% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Aurora market and keep every receipt.
Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $3,950 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,650
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,300
• Baby formula and diapers: $730
• Refrigeration and electricity: $270

Take care. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. All the best
Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Thinking of Aurora.
