Rosângela runs a volunteer pantry feeding 313 families; this fund restocks shelves for the harvest gap.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Sunday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 12 families, and now we feed 313 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 47% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Niterói market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $360
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $300
• Baby formula and diapers: $220
• Refrigeration and electricity: $120

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($360) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. I'll keep the page updated.
