Feed 310 families each week at Open Hands Pantry in São Paulo
Marcos runs a volunteer pantry feeding 310 families; this fund restocks shelves for the winter.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Monday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 16 families, and now we feed 310 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 55% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the São Paulo market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $850 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $270
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $340
• Baby formula and diapers: $125
• Refrigeration and electricity: $115
Every share and every dollar helps.

Thinking of you and your family. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of São Paulo
Best of luck, Marcos. Looking forward to the next update. I hope August is when things finally get easier. All the best
