Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 19 families, and now we feed 276 each week. Donations have dropped by about 31% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Odesa market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $550 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $210 • Refrigeration and electricity: $25 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $315 Every share and every dollar helps.

  • Hope things get better soon, Anton. More neighborhoods should do this. I have a 14 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
