Feed 248 families each week at the Second Helping in București
Help keep a free food pantry open for families and seniors in București.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Tuesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 12 families, and now we feed 248 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the București market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $850 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $370
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $165
• Baby formula and diapers: $190
• Refrigeration and electricity: $125
With deep gratitude,
Vasile
