Feed 233 families each week at the Second Helping in Bekasi
The the Second Helping pantry in Bekasi is running low just as demand rises; $500 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Monday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 13 families, and now we feed 233 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 51% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Bekasi market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $310
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $100
• Baby formula and diapers: $35
• Refrigeration and electricity: $55
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

So sorry you're going through this, Sri. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best
Sending love, Sri. Shared this with my family. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from London
