Feed 228 families each week at the Second Helping in Addis Ababa
The the Second Helping pantry in Addis Ababa is running low just as demand rises; $300 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Friday from the back of a community center. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 228 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Addis Ababa market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $300 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $65
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $185
• Refrigeration and electricity: $50
