Kingston
Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Wednesday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 201 each week. Donations have dropped by about 39% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kingston market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $700 goes: • Baby formula and diapers: $160 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $480 • Refrigeration and electricity: $60 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

  • You're not alone. This could happen to any of us. We're a small family in San Francisco but we're thinking of you.

    • Hope it all works out. Hope you get there. My neighbor in Ibadan donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Kingston.
