Farah needs a lift to the Rawalpindi Kidney Centre - can you help one day a week?

A rota of drivers to the Rawalpindi Kidney Centre would keep Farah on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Farah has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to the Rawalpindi Kidney Centre alone. After a minor stroke, Farah can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 19 km each way. Farah is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Glad we found this place.

  • Sending good thoughts, Aleena. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.

    • Take care, Aleena. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.

      • Keep going, Aleena. Hope this works out for you. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Atlanta.

          • Hope things get better soon, Aleena. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
