Esteban can't leave home - help build a ramp

Esteban uses a wheelchair and cannot leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.

Esteban has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Esteban can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate ten hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Esteban's family will cook lunch for the team. Thank you for reading my story.

  • everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Springfield

    • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'm in public service myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Bakersfield!
