Emergency hernia repair for Faruk: covering what insurance won't
After a herniated spinal disc, Faruk was cleared for emergency hernia repair, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Faruk was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in December. The surgeon at Dhaka Orthopedic Institute recommended emergency hernia repair, and He is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $880, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $700 short.
my husband has been in and out of Dhaka Orthopedic Institute since December. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $880 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Faruk struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Faruk won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
