Ellie was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in August. The surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended septoplasty, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,750, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $6,450 short.
my mother has been in and out of Saint Joseph Hospital since August. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Ellie struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Ellie won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
