I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in civil engineering at Albuquerque Polytechnic, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a barista to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $2,800. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a top-ten-percent average, and my professor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Albuquerque Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $2,800 goes: • Textbooks and materials: $195 • Exam and lab fees: $260 • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,345 Thank you for reading my story. - Dũng

You're not alone, Dũng. Education changes everything, hope you graduate with honors. After 7 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
