Donate a coat: Kariuki is collecting for 23 families

Coats, boots, hats and gloves are needed before winter.

I coordinate donations at the Jacaranda Mosque in Kakamega. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes 2 to 14 years. If you're in Kakamega, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at the Jacaranda Mosque on Monday between 9am and 4pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the the Jacaranda Mosque clothing bank, which is open to everyone. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
