Could you share an hour a week with Vusi?

Vusi lives alone and has no family nearby; a weekly hour of conversation would transform the week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Vusi, who's 91. Vusi lives alone in Ekurhuleni, and lost a lifelong friend last year. The nearest family lives several hours away. Vusi loves chess, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Friday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Glad we found this place.

Rooting for you, Emily. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Cambridge.

      • Hope things get better soon, Emily. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did
