Could you share an hour a week with Puja?

Puja lives alone and has no family nearby; a weekly hour of conversation would transform the week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Puja, who's 80. Puja lives alone in Gazipur, and lost a sister last year. The nearest family lives 699 kilometers away. Puja loves birdwatching, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Saturday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Thank you for reading my story.

    • Hang in there, Babu. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Greetings from Jakarta Barat.

So sorry you're going through this. Looking forward to the next update. After 23 years in logistics I know how hard it is to ask for anything.

        • Thinking of you and your family, Babu. Shared it with a few friends. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected

          • Hope it all works out. Hope you get there. Love from Bandung

            • Sending good thoughts, Babu. Wishing Puja a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too

              • it takes guts to ask. Well done. Thinking of Gazipur
