Could you share an hour a week with Ikenna?

Ikenna lives alone and has no family nearby; a weekly hour of conversation would transform the week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Ikenna, who's 88. Ikenna lives alone in Epe, and lost a spouse of many years last year. The nearest family lives several hours away. Ikenna loves opera, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Saturday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Thanks for being kind about this.

  • Hang in there. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out.

    • Praying for you, Halima. Get well soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too

      • Best of luck, Halima. I hope things turn around soon

        • Wishing you the best. Wishing Ikenna a smooth procedure and a full recovery. God bless

          • Looking forward to the next update. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Love from Los Angeles.
