Could you share an hour a week with Hae-won?

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Hae-won is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Hae-won, who's 76. Hae-won lives alone in Busan, and lost a sister last year. The nearest family lives a long flight away. Hae-won loves local history, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Wednesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Wishing you peace, Soo-ah. This could happen to any of us. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care

Hang in there, Soo-ah. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
