Could you mentor a retail manager breaking into accounting?

I have worked as a retail manager for 14 years, and I'm 35. After being laid off, I decided to move into accounting, and I have completed a self-study course with a project portfolio. What I'm missing is someone who has walked this path: feedback on my interview answers, a realistic view of the job market in England, and a sounding board when things feel overwhelming.
