Companionship wanted: Uche's chess and a cup of tea

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Uche is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Uche, who's 82. Uche lives alone in Nnewi, and lost a lifelong friend last year. The nearest family lives on the other side of the country. Uche loves chess, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Saturday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Glad we found this place.

  • Keep going. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. It's not much but it's yours. Blessings

    • Keep going, Michael. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care.
