Community Pantry: keep the shelves full this rainy season

The Community Pantry pantry in Tehuacán is running low just as demand rises; $850 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Saturday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 13 families, and now we feed 164 each week. Donations have dropped by about 31% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Tehuacán market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $850 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $230 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $570 • Refrigeration and electricity: $50 Thanks for being kind about this. - Eduardo
