Clodagh has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to Kilkenny General Hospital alone. After an eyesight problem, Clodagh can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 30 km each way. Clodagh is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Thanks for being kind about this.

I was going through a tough time and this person's support was invaluable. They didn't judge, just helped. That kind of genuine compassion is rare these days.

  • Sending good thoughts, Nuala. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Take care.
