Clear storm damage from Khadija's garden in Awka

Fallen branches and overgrowth are blocking Khadija's path; a few hours of help would make a big difference.

I'm 82 and I have lived in this house in Awka for 46 years. After the storm in June, two large branches and a fallen fence have blocked the back door and the garden path. I can no longer manage them myself because of a recent fall. The council has told me it will be six weeks before they can send someone. I'd feel much safer if it were cleared sooner. Help needed: someone with a chainsaw, plus a few people with rakes and gloves. I'll provide tea, sandwiches and the green waste bags. A few hours will do. You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • Thinking of you and your family. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out.

    • So sorry you're going through this. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Awka

      • Hang in there. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'll check back for the next update. Take care
