Clean water and shade for Taguig: restoring the Jacaranda canal
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Jacaranda canal needs $400 for saplings and equipment.
🇵🇭 1635, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines1,215 views
The Jacaranda canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 66 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 149 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $400 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $260
• Signage and educational materials: $40
• Tools and protective gear: $100
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Thinking of you, Rhea. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Love from Bangkok
Hang in there. More neighborhoods should do this. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Good luck. Hope this works out for you. My husband and I read this together. Greetings from Gaya
