Clean water and shade for Łódź: restoring the Sycamore riverbank
Help us clean and replant the Sycamore riverbank before the September planting window closes.
🇵🇱 Łódź, Poland1,087 views
The Sycamore riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 62 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 81 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $850 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $240
• Tools and protective gear: $250
• Waste removal and skip hire: $270
• Signage and educational materials: $90
Every share and every dollar helps.

Thinking of you and your family, Marta. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer.
Wishing you peace, Marta. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 24 people at work. Thinking of Łódź!
More neighborhoods should do this. Put this on a community board in Nuremberg this morning.
