Clean streets and rivers for Veracruz: restoring the Lotus canal
Help us clean and replant the Lotus canal before the July planting window closes.
🇲🇽 Mexico212 views
The Lotus canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 50 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 57 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $900 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $390
• Tools and protective gear: $175
• Waste removal and skip hire: $270
• Signage and educational materials: $65

More neighborhoods should do this. We're a small family in Pune but we're thinking of you.
Sending good thoughts, Pablo. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'll check back for the next update. All the best.
