Clean streets and rivers for Amsterdam: restoring the Acacia wetland
Help us clean and replant the Acacia wetland before the November planting window closes.
🇳🇱 Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands438 views
The Acacia wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 82 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 113 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,400
• Tools and protective gear: $195
• Waste removal and skip hire: $260
• Signage and educational materials: $145
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Roos?
Take care. Shared this with my family. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. All the best.
Great idea, hope you get there. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. God bless.
