Clean air and water for San Diego: restoring the Maple wetland
Help us clean and replant the Maple wetland before the November planting window closes.
🇺🇸 United States2,651 views
The Maple wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 32 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 97 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,400
• Tools and protective gear: $540
• Waste removal and skip hire: $280
• Signage and educational materials: $130
Thanks for being kind about this.

I hope things turn around soon. Wish I lived closer to Naivasha so I could bring a meal.
Thanks for sharing this, Rylee. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Uberlândia.
