Clean air and water for Orlando: restoring Sycamore Beach
Volunteers are restoring Sycamore Beach in Orlando; $2,200 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
Anywhere in the world622 views
Sycamore Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 60 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 134 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,200 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $950
• Tools and protective gear: $400
• Waste removal and skip hire: $670
• Signage and educational materials: $180

Sending strength, Benjamin. Great idea, hope you get there. All the best
Rooting for you, Benjamin. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Blessings
Wishing you the best, Benjamin. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Orlando.
Hope things get better soon. Looking forward to the next update. Love from Kilkenny
