Clean air and water for Nashik: restoring the Sycamore wetland
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Sycamore wetland needs $250 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇳 Nashik, Maharashtra, India433 views
The Sycamore wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 88 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 195 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $250 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $115
• Signage and educational materials: $35
• Tools and protective gear: $100
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Thinking of you and your family, Rani. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings
