Clean air and water for Los Angeles: restoring Unity Creek
A neighborhood-led restoration of Unity Creek needs $1,650 for saplings and equipment.
🇺🇸 United States690 views
Unity Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This November, 97 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 124 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,650 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $470
• Signage and educational materials: $170
• Waste removal and skip hire: $1,010
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Hope it all works out. I hope things turn around soon. Put this on a community board in Kelowna this morning. All the best
Great idea, hope you get there. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless.
Best of luck. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Wish I lived closer to Los Angeles so I could bring a meal. God bless
Praying for you, Hailey. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Blessings.
