Clean air and water for Kyiv: restoring Acacia Creek
Volunteers are restoring Acacia Creek in Kyiv; $450 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇺🇦 Kyiv, Ukraine693 views
Acacia Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 69 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 40 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $450 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $280
• Signage and educational materials: $25
• Waste removal and skip hire: $145
Every share and every dollar helps.

Your post was clear and honest. We're a small family in Hannover but we're thinking of you. God bless.
Great idea, hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Södertälje.
Thanks for sharing this, Maria. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Thinking of Kyiv
