For nine years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Manila. In June, floodwater took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Saturday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 10 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $550 goes: • Replacing a commercial oven: $190 • Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $135 • Shop repairs and licensing: $90 • Working capital for the first month: $135 Thanks for reading all this. - Cherry

Small businesses are the heart of Manila. Hope you're open again soon. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.

    • Praying for you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Manila.

      • Wishing you the best. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Victoria but we're thinking of you

        • you're not alone. Hope the shop reopens soon. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless.

          • Thinking of you and your family. Hope you get there. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.

            • Wishing you the best, Cherry. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I hope September is when things finally get easier. Greetings from Oakland!

              • You're not alone, Cherry. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of Manila.
