Cathal's final semester of a computer science degree in Galway
Cathal has worked and saved for four years to study a computer science degree; a $4,450 gap now stands between him and graduation.

Cathal is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a computer science degree at Galway State College, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a warehouse packer to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,450.
The registrar has said Cathal can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Cathal has a distinction average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Cathal would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Cathal isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $4,450 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $880
• Final term tuition: $3,000
• Exam and lab fees: $290
• Textbooks and materials: $280
Glad we found this place.

it takes guts to ask. Well done. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
shared it with a few friends. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Regensburg.
Hang in there. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
So sorry you're going through this, Cian. It takes guts to ask. Well done. All the best
How is Cathal doing now?
keep going, Cian. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Galway.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Cathal
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. outstanding tuition balance comes first ($880) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for looking so closely.
Wishing you peace. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Cathal?
Thank you. If you're in Galway I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Appreciate you taking the time.
Rooting for you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Galway
