Carpenters wanted: an entrance ramp for Yuma

Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Kawasaki.

Yuma has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Yuma can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate ten hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Yuma's family will cook lunch for the team. Glad we found this place.

  • Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Hubballi

    • Best of luck, Mai. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Sent it to 7 people at work. Love from Rabat
