Carpenters wanted: an entrance ramp for Stella
Stella uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.
🇳🇿 Canterbury, New Zealand268 views
Stella has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Stella can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Stella's family will cook lunch for the team.
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
