Carpenters wanted: an entrance ramp for Rekha
Help Rekha regain independence: a simple ramp build.
🇳🇵 Kathmandu, Bagmati, Nepal270 views
Rekha has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Rekha can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate six hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Rekha's family will cook lunch for the team.
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

So sorry you're going through this, Pooja. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
Thanks for sharing this. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care.
Looking forward to the next update. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Kathmandu.
Praying for you, Pooja. Looking forward to the next update. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. God bless.
