Carpenters wanted: an entrance ramp for Omar
Omar uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.
🇪🇬 Cairo, Cairo, Egypt613 views
Omar has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Omar can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Omar's family will cook lunch for the team.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
- effort
- one weekend
- format
- In person in Cairo

Thinking of you. Shared it with a few friends. Put this on a community board in Aberdeen this morning. All the best.
Best of luck. Looking forward to the next update. After 15 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything. All the best!
take care, Rahma. Your post was clear and honest. Greetings from San Francisco.
wishing you the best. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Love from Bacolod
