Carpenters wanted: an entrance ramp for Maria

Maria uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.

Maria has used a wheelchair since 2025, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Maria can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Maria's family will cook lunch for the team. Thank you so much.

  • take care. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. My neighbor in San Jose donated after I showed her your page. Blessings

    • rooting for you, Gabriel. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.

      • Best of luck. Hope this works out for you. After 22 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
