Carpenters wanted: an entrance ramp for Lourdes

Help Lourdes regain independence: a simple ramp build.

Lourdes has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Lourdes can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Lourdes's family will cook lunch for the team. Thanks for being kind about this.

  • Good luck, Victor. Get well soon. It's not much but it's yours. Blessings.

    • Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out.

      • Sending good thoughts. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Quezon City.

        • hope this works out for you. Put this on a community board in Pittsburgh this morning. Take care

          • Thinking of you. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My husband and I read this together. Greetings from Thủ Đức.

                • Thinking of you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like

                  • Hope it all works out. Gave what I could, wish it was more. All the best

                    • Thinking of you and your family, Victor. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Moscow.
