Carpenters wanted: an entrance ramp for Irene
Help Irene regain independence: a simple ramp build.
🇰🇪 Nairobi, Kenya1,513 views
Irene has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Irene can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the building-code slope requirement, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Irene's family will cook lunch for the team.
Thanks for being kind about this.

hope things get better soon, Halima. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'll check back for the next update. Love from Puebla
Stay strong, Halima. Get well soon. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
So sorry you're going through this, Halima. Shared this with my family. Take care
Best of luck. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.
Hope things get better soon, Halima. Hope the doctors have good news.
thinking of you. Hope you get there. Love from Ekurhuleni
Wishing you the best. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Kasarani.
sending love. Get well soon. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Love from Berlin
