Carpenters wanted: an entrance ramp for Eugene
Eugene uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.
🇬🇧 Manchester, England, United Kingdom956 views
Eugene has used a wheelchair since 2022, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Eugene can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate six hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Eugene's family will cook lunch for the team.
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
