Build a wheelchair ramp for Viraj in Jaffna
Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Jaffna.
🇱🇰 Northern, Sri Lanka979 views
Viraj has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Viraj can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate six hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Viraj's family will cook lunch for the team.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Sending strength, Lakmal. Gave what I could, wish it was more.
Thinking of you. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Thinking of Jaffna.
So sorry you're going through this, Lakmal. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of Jaffna
Rooting for you. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Love from Syracuse
Get well soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Blessings
