Build a wheelchair ramp for Ruwan in Negombo
Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Negombo.
🇱🇰 Negombo, Western, Sri Lanka169 views
Ruwan has used a wheelchair since 2025, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Ruwan can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate six hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Ruwan's family will cook lunch for the team.
Glad we found this place.

Wishing Ruwan a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Wishing you the best, Kasun. I hope things turn around soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care.
Good luck, Kasun. Hope you get there. Take care
Thinking of you and your family. Shared this with my family. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Stay strong, Kasun. This could happen to any of us. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Negombo.
