Marites has used a wheelchair since 2025, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Marites can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Marites's family will cook lunch for the team. Thank you for reading my story.

  • Thinking of you. Wishing Marites a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Put this on a community board in Brescia this morning. God bless

    • Thinking of you and your family, Miguel. This could happen to any of us!

      • Your post was clear and honest. After 24 years in engineering I know how hard it is to ask for anything.

        • Sending good thoughts, Miguel. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier

          • Sending strength. Gave what I could, wish it was more. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless.

            • Thinking of you and your family, Miguel. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I'll check back for the next update.

              • You're not alone, Miguel. This could happen to any of us.

                • Hope things get better soon. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like

                    • Thinking of you. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
