Build a wheelchair ramp for Marilyn in Portland
Marilyn uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.
🇺🇸 Oregon, United States283 views
Marilyn has used a wheelchair since 2025, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Marilyn can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Marilyn's family will cook lunch for the team.
Thanks for being kind about this.

Hang in there. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Thinking of Portland.
Keep going. Wishing Marilyn a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.
Good luck. Hope the doctors have good news. I hope June is when things finally get easier. All the best!
hope it all works out. Looking forward to the next update. All the best.

Hope it all works out, Kaylee. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I have a 14 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Blessings.
